Barium Fluoride windows can be used for UV ultraviolet applications up to IR infrared applications
Barium fluoride's (BaF2) properties are similar to calcium fluoride. BaF2 is more resistant to high energy radiation. It is less resistant to water damage. In dry environments, BaF2 can be used in applications with exposure to temperatures up to 800 °C. Care must be taken when handling Barium fluoride as it is a hazardous material.
BaF2 optical windows are sensitive to thermal shock.
